David Rovics
"Listen to David Rovics ..." Pete Seeger
"... the peace poet and troubador of our time." Cindy Sheehan
"David Rovics is the musical version of Democracy Now." Amy Goodman
David toured with Alistair Hulett in December 2008. Audiences warmed to
his songs and unassuming style with songs like 'New Orleans' and 'The
Alligator Song'.
David Rovics has been called the musical voice of the progressive
movement in the US. Amy Goodman has called him "the musical version of
Democracy Now!" When Pete Seeger says listen to David Rovics" - listen!
Topical, funny and a great musician.
Since the mid-90's Rovics has spent most of his time on the road, playing
hundreds of shows every year throughout North America, Europe, Latin
America, the Middle East and Japan. He and his songs have been featured on
national radio programs in the US, Canada, Britain, Ireland, Italy, Sweden,
Denmark and elsewhere. He has shared the stage regularly with leading
intellectuals (Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn), activists (Medea Benjamin, Ralph
Nader), politicians (Dennis Kucinich, George Galloway), musicians (Billy
Bragg, the Indigo Girls), and celebrities (Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon).
Kids Shows (planning a couple of kids shows 4 - 8 yrs)
"David's ability to capture the imagination, fascination and
participation of elementary school aged children is obvious from everything
he does before his opening song until the last tune leaves his guitar...
Children who see him perform more than once shout out song requests when
they see him and sing along quickly to their favorite lyrics... While the
themes of many of his original songs are silly and carefree he also includes
songs that challenge children and their families to think about bigger,
global issues... David's shows are full of wit and charm that makes his
audience members of all ages glad they came out for the show. I highly
recommend hiring David as a singer/songwriter for a one time event or
regular schedule of performances."
