This page is a record of the artists who have appeared |
January 2009
15 Jan - The String Chickens - were fabulous as usual
22 Jan - Daideo & The Blue Mosquitoes - rave
reviews about this young band
opened
for Peggy Seeger March 2008, played with Dougie MacLean, Cygnet, Jan
2009.
29 Jan - Frankie Armstrong (UK) - such a great a
capella singer; traditional ballads as they should be presented. A
terrific sense of history and political struggle.
The highlight of the open mic on 29 Jan was Sam
Rogers, One Mouth Band, from the US. Fresh from a gig with Mal Webb in
Melbourne the previous evening, Sam took us on a journey with voice and
loop that had us in awe!
Watch out for Sam when he comes back to tour in 2010
or 2011.
2009 'been there, done that'
8 Jan - Peter Hicks & Annie Parsell headline 'A Taste
of Cygnet'
what a massive night this was,
Graham Moore, Sanjiva de Silva, Adriana & The Bellywood Dancers, SUNAS,
The Tasmanian Grassroots Union Choir, Gurdy Girl - a fantastic
introduction to the Cygnet Folk Festival

2008 lineup
April 3 - Peter Hicks and Annie Parsell were joined by
Melisande and Alex, Melanie Gent, Tessa Lee and Peter Miller.
A wonderful audience was held entranced by magic
performances; Peter and Annie were magnificent, commanded total silence,
Melisande (Canada) exhibited style and sensuality and we know Melanie is a good
songwriter and performer. Surprise of the night was Peter Miller (QLD) with his
guitar instrumental and Tessa Lee (new Hobartian) performing her own songs with
engaging personality.
"I didn't expect to come to Hobart and find a folk club
like this" - Tessa Lee
Melisande has a myspace site:

Stars (fresh from the Jordan River Festival), open mic
